At Our Lady\u2019s & St Mochua\u2019s PS our main concern is the care, welfare and safety of the children in our charge and the welfare of each child is our paramount consideration.<\/p>\n

Article 19 of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that children have the right to be protected from all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation including sexual abuse by those looking after them. Article 3 provides that when organisations make decisions which affect children, the best interests of the child must be a primary consideration.<\/p>\n

We have created this special section on for Safeguarding to ensure parents can access all the information they need in a much more efficient way.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Accessing the Safer Schools NI App for the first time? Allow us to take you through step by step<\/h2>\n

With its user friendly interface and age appropriate content, the Safer Schools NI App<\/strong>\u00a0is your day-to-day Hub for everything you need to engage with your school community. Not only safeguarding advice, but the app brings news sharing features, push notification capability and avenues to contact schools staff all in one place!<\/h4>\n

It is\u00a0free\u00a0<\/strong>to download from the Apple App store or Google Play store. Simply visit the store and search\u00a0“Safer Schools NI”<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Are you a parent, carer or staff member using the Safer Schools NI App?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

These steps will apply to all parents, carers, and staff members.<\/h4>\n

Firstly, as an adult user, you’ll need to start by creating an account. We do\u00a0not\u00a0<\/strong>require the children to do this due to GDPR compliance. Your account is used to allow you to utilise the features within the App.<\/h4>\n

STEP 1 –\u00a0<\/strong>Open the\u00a0Safer Schools NI App<\/strong>. Select that you are a\u00a0Staff<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0Parent\/Carer.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Note<\/strong>\u00a0If you are both a parent for a child in one school, and a member of staff in another, you’re able to add both roles for both schools to your account. It doesn’t matter if you choose staff or parent when you create your account.<\/h4>\n

STEP 2 –\u00a0<\/strong>You’ll now be prompted for an email address and password. If this is your first time, select\u00a0‘Create an Account’<\/strong>\u00a0in the box underneath the log in bar. Enter your name, use an email address you have access to and create a password. This could be your personal email address or a school one if you’re a teacher.<\/h4>\n

STEP 3 –\u00a0<\/strong>Once filled, click\u00a0‘Register’.\u00a0<\/strong>You’ll then see a terms and conditions pop-up.<\/h4>\n

Note:\u00a0<\/strong>You’ll need to scroll down to highlight the\u00a0Agree<\/strong>\u00a0button. Once it’s highlighted, you can click it. If you do not scroll down, you will not be able to continue.<\/h4>\n

Once this has been agreed to, your new account has been created and you’ll be directed to the\u00a0‘Add School Or Roles’<\/strong>\u00a0page.<\/h4>\n

Note:\u00a0<\/strong>These are the details you will use whenever you need to log in.\u00a0Forgotten your password?\u00a0<\/strong>Not a problem!\u00a0Head to our article\u00a0here\u00a0to find out how to reset it.<\/a><\/h4>\n

STEP 4:\u00a0<\/strong>Now you’re logged in, we need to add your role or roles. This corresponds to your role within the school community. Once you’ve logged in for the first time, you’ll be prompted to\u00a0‘Add School’.\u00a0<\/strong>These codes can be obtained from your school Admin Account holders. Each role has its own\u00a0Entry Code<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0QR Code\u00a0<\/strong>unique to each school.<\/h4>\n

Note<\/strong>\u00a0All content is age and role appropriate, so as a parent you may see slightly different features or content, or have different capabilities than you do as a staff member.<\/h4>\n

Once you have the relevant one, enter the code or scan the QR code. You will then immediately be logged in to the corresponding role. These roles will be stored on your account until such a time as you need to remove them.<\/h4>\n

Note\u00a0<\/strong>The\u00a0Scan QR code\u00a0<\/strong>option will open an in App camera to scan it with. This is the one that\u00a0must\u00a0<\/strong>be used otherwise it will not work.<\/h4>\n

How do I use my codes?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The 4 digit PIN number or the QR entry codes are provided by the school, and are unique to every school.<\/h4>\n

The code for PARENTS IS 0223<\/h4>\n
